Ardingly Parish Council works to ensure that future development in our village is managed in a way that protects its character, meets the needs of residents, and supports the long-term sustainability of our community.
The Ardingly Planning Committee meets monthly to consider all local planning applications and agree a formal response, which is then submitted to Mid Sussex District Council (MSDC). This process often includes site visits before meetings. All parishioners are welcome to attend Planning Committee meetings and share their views. MSDC is the authority responsible for making the final decision on planning applications.
This section brings together key areas of planning and development work in Ardingly, including:
-
Neighbourhood Plan – the Parish Council’s vision and policies guiding development in Ardingly from 2013–2031. The plan was formally adopted by MSDC in October 2014.
-
Village Survey – feedback gathered from residents in 2025 to help shape decisions about the future of the village.
-
SA25 – details on the proposed development of the Showground Red Car Park (land west of Selsfield Road), allocated for housing by MSDC through its Sustainability Review and Site Allocations Development Plan Document (DPD), following public consultation and examination by an independent planning inspector.
We encourage residents to stay informed and take part in consultations wherever possible, as community input plays a vital role in shaping planning decisions that affect Ardingly.
